I drive by the Shogun restaurant on Eastern Shore Dr. in Salisbury several times a week. For at least a year now, they have had the word Bulgogi on their sign. I have no idea what Bulgogi is, and I have never heard anyone say that they just love Bulgogi. I decided it was time to expand my horizons on the subject of Bulgogi, so I checked the universal reference Wikipedia to see what was up with Bulgogi.
So Bulgogi is apparently a Korean dish that is being served at this Japanese restaurant. Now I know the rest of the story.

SALISBURY, MD—Salisbury University students come together in the Camden neighborhood Sunday, November 16, to make a simple yet powerful statement: “We Love Salisbury.” From noon-3 p.m., students volunteer to perform yard work at homes adjacent to the University during the first “We Love Salisbury” event, sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA). “We want to show the community that there are so many SU students who are responsible adults, and we take pride in the city of Salisbury,” said SGA Vice President of External Affairs Patrick Gotham. “We are encouraging residents to work with the students to complete yard work and form a bond.” All students and residents participating in the event are invited to a cookout at 4 p.m. on the Holloway Hall Lawn. “This will provide additional interaction between students and their neighbors,” Gotham said. “I’m very proud of our student leaders and their efforts toward providing positive interaction and community relations with University neighbors,” said Dr. Ellen Neufeldt, vice president of student affairs. “They are role models for all of our students.” Homeowners may sign up for yard work at their residences by calling 410-548-4757 or e-mailing Gotham at sgavpofea@salisbury.edu.

SALISBURY, MD—Nerdy Mr. Kirby from the National Institute for Children’s Entertainment (N.I.C.E.) doesn’t believe in the magic of music—but that’s all bound to change when Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen waves his baton while conducting this year’s Salisbury Symphony Orchestra Youth Concert. The magic happens 3 p.m. Saturday, October 25, in Holloway Hall Auditorium at Salisbury University, where the SSO presents “The Haunted Orchestra.” Children are encouraged to come in costume. Kirby, AKA visual comedian Dan Kamin, literally loses his shirt (and pants) to widely recognizable classical works including Wagner’s “The Ride of the Valkyries,” Rimsey-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee” and Anderson’s “The Syncopated Clock.” And rest assured, strings are attached (to Kirby himself) as the SSO performs Gounod’s “Funeral March of a Marionette” (AKA the theme from Alfred Hitchcock Presents). Though Kamin’s name may not sound immediately familiar to audiences, millions have seen his work. From teaching Johnny Depp how to roll a coin around his fingers for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies to putting Robert Downey Jr. through a crash course in physical comedy for his acclaimed title role in Chaplin, Kamin has educated some of the world’s most acclaimed actors. The views along South Division Street in Salisbury will be getting an extreme makeover during the next year or so. Salisbury University has begun preliminary site work for the parking garage that will fill the vacant lot at the corner of Bateman St. and S. Division St. near the university. Once the parking garage is complete, the view should look something like the architecural rendering of the planned structure. The City of Salisbury will also be getting into the act with the potential realignment of Onley Rd. at the intersection of Bateman St. The city purchased the property at 1141 S. Division St. in July of 2007, and the residence that occupied the property was demolished in the Spring of 2008. The picture in the slide show provides a view from Onley Rd. through the vacant lot to Bateman St. With 850 parking spaces planned for the SU parking garage, it is likely that a new traffic light will also grace this intersection. In the meantime, in order to relieve the congestion caused by college traffic on S. Division St., the City of Salisbury should consider the prohibition of left turns onto Onley Rd. for southbound traffic. Vehicles would travel just a block farther south to Halsey Dr. to make their left turn. Backups are caused on a regular basis by cars waiting to make a left onto Onley Rd., and many rear end collisions have been caused by stopped traffic in this location. The traffic at the junction of Bateman St. and S. Division St. has forced both the University and the City of Salisbury to post an officer and vehicle to monitor the area on a regular basis. This is a poor use of law enforcement resources, and some minor modifications to the traffic pattern could greatly improve the situation.
